Let Us Go

Dominus vobiscum
et cum spiritum tuo.
Hail Jehovah,
let us go,
go lie in fire
and in snow.
Almighty God,
let us go
lie with the damned
and the dead below.
Sing Apollyon,
sing for your kingdom;
the yawning abyss,
sing for the damned
and the devil’s kiss.
Apollyon! Abbadon! Muriel!
A trinity of names
in nominae patria,
et filiis
et spiritu sancti
are men afraid?
What demon heeds
such words here?
Where there are other,
sleeker rites to hear,
what need of fear
have those who
only demons know?
Come, sinners,
come now,
come join the legion
of the demons
and the damned.
Hail, Abbadon,
King of the Locusts.
They are come here
with the lash of a scorpion-tail
for those without the mark of God.
Hail, Appolyon,
Greek baring teeth
and you are here
with the last of the foolish pilgrims
a-wrestling on the rocky road.
Hail, Muriel,
Trick of the Tongue
here is begun
the textual confusion,
belief’s perversion
by religion.
Septuagint, Pentateuch, Gospels Four,
the writing is religion’s whore.
Then let us go
that we might know
what lies beyond fire
and under snow.

Great repeating theme of snow
Great repeating theme of snow and grand without being pompous. Fascinating slice of fire and brimstone.
