In Bridcaster we talk of shopping arcades,
The Mall pronounced “Mal” is for TV parades.
My terrace starred in a charity show,
others' are places the Jehovahs won't go.
And Jesus bids us shine.
The internutters read of a light in the east,
the gullible take flight to join with the beast.
Bethlehem village lies behind a great wall,
does anyone remember the message at all?
And Jesus bids us shine.
The warriors came home from the glorious fight,
whimpered and shivered in the dark of the night.
The flags came down just one year ago,
they're sending men back to the Khyber, you know.
And Jesus bids us shine.
There is no candle to burn back the night,
there is fire and death in that dirty-bomb light.
There is only defending when both sides are right.
In the name of religion, they bring us this blight.
And Jesus bids us shine.

I like the repetitions, but I felt that some of the rhymes were a little forced perhaps - for convenience - eg. the 'you know' in 'they're sending men back to the Khyber you know.' And should there be a apostrophe in Jehovah's as in the people belonging to him? Just wondered. I see it could work in plural, but doesn't seem quite right, as it's the people who are plural.
'just one your ago', - year?
Great message - comes across really well.

Yeah, sorry about that, I
Yeah, sorry about that, I meant apostrophe - I'll correct that.
I was only meaning which was the plural - like more than one Jehovah, or people. But I wasn't sure...

not often I don't overlook a typo - being word blind to my own writing. Jesus bids us shine, for all of mankind and not just the few, you know as I do.
