Letters to Herself

I woke up speaking in riddles, heart raging
against a world shaking, changing, escaping
my mother cried soft lullabies of light and mystery
in a dream with infinite passages, all conflicted
by the bottle of prescription pills and history
on the borderline between racing time and chasing
the amnesia of memories, a billion theories
she birthed particles of stars, stories and spaces
she embraces the blind, and sheltered the poor
I woke up speaking in synchronistic codes
psychotic spiritual, a fortune that was imposed
destined to alter the erosion of sky
I woke up with the sea in my eyes, and when
I died, I wrote a letter to me, and I confessed
nothing was how it seemed to be.

I like the dreamlike stream
I like the dreamlike stream-of-consciousness surreal quality of this, especially the last three lines...one to read and re-read.

A stark depiction of the mind
A vivid depiction of the mind and all its vulnerability. Transporting and unnerving with a dreamy hypnotic atmosphere. This is our Poem of the Week.

I enjoyed the rhythm of this
I enjoyed the rhythm of this especially. It had the feel of a rap song. Some strong content. Well said.
