Imagine

Just imagine
Compassion falling like drops of rain
To feel it you need just, step outside
And be awashed in the experience, in the emotion
You are cleansed both within and without
The bitter edge is lost from your actions
Now when you defend yourself from the world's criticisms
Your opinions no longer cut
They can not be mistaken as an attack
Perhaps you think there is no longer the need at all
Lifting a burden, you set aside your verbal shield
For contentment has been found with who you are
Now imagine
This is a gift, you are able to give
Like before, you need just step outside
Outside the walls that were built around your heart
The sacrifice of just one minute, shared with another
Can become priceless, something wondrous
It is no easy thing, to make one’s self vulnerable
But only when we admit this truth to ourselves
And show others it is no great sin to be weak
When we set aside our differences
To come together at the same time, the same place
It is in that moment, we are strong and this gift is given
