In silence doth the day burn bright,
cast forth its blazing fire.
For cursed eyes dare seize the night,
its ash and coal to tire.
Beside the midnight lamp to mourn,
beneath such dreadful moon.
from ghosts the darkened skies had born,
thy wishful sordid boon.
For as the dawn then greets the earth,
its weary bones partake.
the stars of which the sun shall birth,
as the beasts of earth awake.
