"I think you ought to take Jennifer Jane home and see what's going on at the Wish Warehouse, while you're at it," said the senior witch. "I'll get some of the apprentices to repair the drawbridge. It'll be good practice for them."
"Yes, ma'am," said Abigail and she led Jennifer Jane through the Witches' Home and across the lawn to the broom shed.
"Thank goodness you've come back," said Lieutenant Moonshine, as Jennifer Jane and Abigail arrived at the Wish Warehouse. "Forget-me-not's in a shocking state, we can't get any sense out of her at all. She keeps on about a muddle with transport for two dragons in two different worlds at the same time and being only able to think of using the five hundred mile wind which we keep for emergencies"
"That's going to be interesting to replace," whispered Abigail. "Five hundred miles for a puff of wind needs a very complicated wiggle and quite a few unusual ingredients."
Forget-me-not was sobbing quietly in a corner of Lieutenant Moonshine's office. As soon as she saw Jennifer Jane, she started trying to explain.
"She's the one who wanted to see a dragon in the other world," she said between sobs, pointing at Jennifer Jane. "It's so confusing, because he's sometimes here and sometimes there and then the other one wanted to see King John's crown and that's with a dragon that's always here and I didn't know what to do hoo hoo." She broke down and howled, the tears pouring down her face.
"You see," said Lieutenant Moonshine crossly, "absolutely useless; it doesn't make any sense."
"I think it does," said Jennifer Jane, "my Dad's friend Jack followed me into the wood and asked to see King John's crown again, just as I was asking to visit Cyril. Forget-me-not must have sent him to see Clarence with the same spell."
Lieutenant Moonshine stared at Jennifer Jane with her mouth open in amazement. "Forget-me-not has sent an ordinary human to see Clarence?" she said.
"I didn't know that," howled Forget-me-not, "he was with her and I thought it was all right."
"Didn't you think of checking?" asked Lieutenant Moonshine.
"Never mind that now," interrupted Abigail. "We've got another problem on our hands. Jennifer Jane and I will go to Clarence and see if we can persuade him to let her friend come back. We'll have to decide what to do about Forget-me-not later!"
