She learned she was adopted

Up when
Meeting her first husband

Down when
He left her childless

Up meeting
Her second husband

Down again when
He also died

Up after
Meeting her toy boy

Final celebrations
With visits abroad

Then down
Again as she begins to falter

At 92 Mary’s string
Is shortening fast

I like this rather touching little piece Geoff - well done

The simplicity of the poem draws in the reader's empathy with Mary - at least it did for me. I like this one. It just proves a poem does not have to be complicated to make a thoughtful observation.
