I was in the heart of the city, it was a hot and sunny day, I should have been happy as the day, the sky seemed perfect, but I wasn’t happy. I was dressed in my favourite, calf length, Laura Ashley floral dress with my small black kid soft, no collar, open front, very short leather jacket and my black Dr Martens. I had just had my black short slightly wavey hair, cut even shorter. I was standing at the traffic lights waiting to cross when suddenly, someone called my name, “Lisa,” I turned around, and saw a woman who I didn’t know, but she clearly knew me.
She said, “You don’t know me, but can we go and have a coffee, and I can explain?” To say I was curios was an understatement, like I said, she knew my name. I’m adventurous and replied, “Sure.”
We walked a few steps and we were in a lovely bistro, one of my favourite places I loved to go, when I wanted to be quiet and relaxed at the same time. We found a place far from the front door and I had a black strong coffee and she had a sweet hot chocolate.
I wasn’t afraid, as she talked and told me what was in her heart and mind, she talked of the hear and now and my future, what she said, made perfect sense to me and I felt peaceful.
When she finished talking, it was three hours later, I had asked questions too of course! Then she handed a small box to me and said, “This is a gift for you,” I took it and opened it and gasped when I did, for I’d seen this a few years ago and have always wanted it, but it was way out of my price range, it was a pair of beautiful, dainty small black leather stud ear-rings with platinum posts! I looked at Maxine and said, “How did you know?” She replied, “I know your tastes, I know your style, I just know, and this is like a confirmation of everything we have discussed today.”
I had started of my day sad, but now I felt happy and blessed. It would be a start of a new beginning.
I said, “Where do I sign?”
