Heatwave

Blazing, raging, burning and bright.
Heat so intense, it just doesn't feel right.
Sweat on the brow, the back and the neck.
Bring on the winter, cold and wet.
Meltingly hot, the path feels so sticky,
People on go slow, apathetic or tricky.
Dogs with tongues down to the ground.
Cats in the shade, lazy they lounge.
Cigarette smoke lingers and strong.
Like in the Casbar, with it's milling throng.
Then comes the evening, still and warm.
Another restless night, hot and forlorn.
