She dreams, she says, of running up stairs.
I wonder what she believes she would discover,
But I can see her, losing the weight of her years.
The motion would smooth away her wrinkles,
The air loosen the arthritis in her joints,
Dissolving like sugar into her heat of her new sweat.
Her unsteady heart would fold into a new song,
The chamber orchestra beating its encouragement,
Her breath would be as free as her wit.
I can see her reach the landing. As she was,
Alabaster framed by a gold medal of blonde hair.
So beautiful, so unlike me, though I am of her.
She dreams of running up stairs, she says
As I wheel her through the garden,
While I dream of running with her.

Quite beautiful, understated, emotively powerful in its simplicity.

I really like this, it's
I really like this, it's understated and beautiful. I don't like the line
Dissolving like sugar into her heat of her new sweat.
This feels clumsy forme though and not in keeping with the rest which feels very natural. I like your poems.
