Forever

Forever,
We met one childhood
Someone said
Before a sun was born and
Nothingingness had a tongue to speak of.
I had forgotten you - like so many things,
The way you sewed the seasons
Cut away from me loose threads
But now, in the garden here, I recall
As I deadhead what remains of spring
That moment you took leave
As if your hands are mine.
