island (ii)

This was the island's ocean
a place I used to sail
tried to head out further
but was to no avail
This was the island's view
made of brick and stone
rising with each day, inside
I kidded it was home
This was the island's entrance
rusted locks, discarded keys
an undiscovered palace
new rooms, same me
This was the island's beacon
fire siren for the keen
fooling many people
and unsettling my routine
These are the island's seas
through which I dive in dreams
shifting rocks from my bloodstreams
ready for help now, if you please
This is the island's door
allowed some strangers in
then realised they were family
didn't know what this might bring

no man is an island, but I
no man is an island, but I guess we've all experienced the 'new rooms, same me' scenario.
