The day is almost over

 

I haven’t done a thing

 

Been staring at some

 

work of mine

 

with weary eyes that sting

 

 

Writing’s hard

 

the story goes

 

What’s even harder still

 

is finding out my brain is just

 

a leaky thinking mill

 

 

It’s thinking this

 

and thinking that

 

and taking me to task

 

for drinking too much whisky

 

from a worn-out pocket flask

 

 

Now the sun is setting low

 

It hasn’t got there yet

 

There’s still a chance

 

that I might still

 

break a little sweat
