my mind enthralled
and repeating
the words on the pages
what they spell
ask the mages
for they'll tell you all about that.

It's not what I'm saying
it's what I'm singing
and what I'm praying
for I saw Poe
and he was complaining
he couldn't know
the secrets of this cat.

It was dark
and was beautiful
but these words
they were not real…

Poe wrote a story called The Black Cat - was that the reference? I liked the flow too Huginn, and I was upset when it stopped. i find it difficult to write short poems, but this works really well.
