A Feminine Secret

A poem about abortion, that thing that no-one really talks about.
****
Cut the chord,
Splice the sound,
Break the music
into splinters.
A squealing disjointed chorus,
breaking over lumps
in your throat.
"It'll feel like a sharp scratch"
A split second to scream "NO"
Sticking in the needle,
Falling asleep,
Waking up and
it was gone.
Pregnant once
Never again.
Dice it up
Eat it up.
Pray that no-one else
is deafened by this screaming
Sound of Emptiness.

It's such a forbidden topic.

The silent scream. One of
The silent scream. One of those mysteries and private sorrows only a woman can relate to. A brave and touching read.
