if loud music is applied to pain
will it soften it, break down its sides
and if someone sitting on the wall
outside the house, alone
reminds you how those years ago
you walked and sat and thought
the world would never jerk to life again

and does it make it better that it isn't you
looking in the CD's mirrored back
the house is all unsettled, just the same
the feeling's a different shade
though no less bright
time passes and you hand your rawness on
