D - Nilesh V parks several roads

This is what I remember of Nilesh V:
Nilesh V parks several roads
away from his office.
Comes in, puts his umbrella on
the side by the blinds and quietly,
carefully toils away
at numbers and boxes.
Occasionally breaking for coffee
or talking a little about his wife
Sometimes he comes in with half a beard
because he hasn't shaved in three days
Our eyes meet across the acres and years and rings of the desk
He smiles and waves at me
I should have been working!

My most touching memory of Nilesh was his week off - that he didn't go
a-holidaying, but spent four days at home with his wife, and took her
out to the park on the fifth. All the while I was on my lonesome with
the invoices I thought about how content he must be - because I always
want something to happen, some ruinous event. There may be some
connection between this perceived contentment and his being an utterly
gentle man - as his underling I was sure the latter is as true as true
goes.
