Rainbow Bridge

Its half past two I’m wide awake with pictures in my mind
As the years past by, it happens more and more, I find
There’s a picture of us both when we were not that old
You were brave and strong, handsome and bold.
There you are, once again, with snow on your nose
Hanging over a fence, standing on your tippy toes
And now picture of you laying right by my side
Filling my heart and soul with a sense of pride
With memories and tears welling I turn again the page
There you swimming, picture of summer from another age
But I still remember the time that they took you far away,
thank heavens there are no pictures from that awful day.
Why they took you away from me I will never know,
Now there’s another picture of you next to a large rainbow,
Under a clear blue sky and green fields down below.
There you stand tall and well with friends from long ago.
Now, I can not touch you and its only love that I can send.
But we will meet at that place where our broken hearts will mend.
When this time comes we don’t know, it’s only God that can decide
and then we will walk across the bridge, together, side by side.
