Sad Quiche on a Plate

A sad quiche on a plate
Waiting, drying out
Killing time and conversation too
A sad quiche on a plate
With a wrinkled complexion
And egg on its face
Heavy on its papery
Christmas plate but
Also lacking substance
Looking ever so stupid
With a prickly holly garnish
A sad quiche, lonely unwanted
Fattening but unsatisfying
Tomatoes unflattering except
On its cool Italian
Relative, the pizza
The inclusion of eggs
Embarrassing and sulphurous
A sad quiche on a plate
Too cheesy for words
Cheap too it must be said
Just there for bulk
For hungry people without class
As olives look on and laugh
And hummus is scooped up
On carrot sticks raw and fit
A sad quiche getting warm
And smelly, cringing too
As people look in disgust
‘I think I’ll pass’ they think
Quiches can read minds
The party ends
‘Does anyone want to take this quiche?’
‘No’, ‘You’re alright’, ‘Ooh no thanks,’
Sad quiche sliding into
A pedal bin, dying all amosh
Among wrappers and other crap
Sad quiche deconstructed
An underachiever to the end….

Blessed are the quiche-makers. They tried to extend its appeal to a more sophisticated generation of buffeteers by resorting to increased exoticism (et voila: spinach!), but in vain.
Lorraine was just too baby-boomer in the end. A bit like Kevin.

I think you should pop it in
I think you should pop it in an envelope and post it to starfish girl so they can go off into a christmassy sunset together. It would be a kindness to both

My husband has quite a penchant for quiche geraldine so if that could be put into an envelope it would make up for the turkey overload.
