Father to Son

He enters his club
Almost dancing in his old age
His face is beaming...his eyes are laughing
His smile extends from ear to ear
My son has made it...he has done it
Is his cry as he joins his friends
He plays billiards...a smile on his face
He does not care if he wins or loses
Today...he is a winner, so he proposes a toast
And all his friends join him in the drinks
Everyone rejoices in his joy
My son has made it...he has done it
All may know of his great joy
All may see how proud he is
The drinks keep flowing generously
As he brings another toast
His head is light...he drank too much
He staggers home, but his smile remains
And for once he does not mind
For once he is not embarrassed
My son has made it...he has done it
He looks up to the bedroom window
Bags and books are dangling in the wind
and from that bedroom window, I am watching
As my father comes floating home in his graduation dream
I just smile...for I have made it...I have done it
I have fulfilled my father's dream
