Tuesday Blues (22nd July 2008, 12.17pm)
The view outside is misted,
veiled as eyes through tulle;
my heart, clouded and full,
gazes out across the city,
unsure of her next move.
Hesitant, I type the words
that come, unbidden; words
that follow no piper’s tune;
words that flow from tired
fingers onto page and screen
from head, I have no spleen
to vent, so I will spill other
internal organs instead. I have
three days left; Tuesday blues
leave half the day undone;
I’ll sit, await the sun, watch
it through the window, for fun
and fury; tried: guilty, no jury;
the sentence stays the same;
I am imprisoned! Last refrain:
oh, Kingdom come, my will
is all but done; days all blur
into one; I can’t wait for the
last bus to carry me home.
