Do you want to know what beauty means
When filtered through the pupils of a man?
It is a form of blindness. Faced to an
Endearing curve or brow, some trait which leans
Upon our dark interior matter like
A leaf that’s cast aflame and burns through snow,
We’re screened before the person. You must know
It’s not by will or mind if what will strike
Us first is not your language, but a sight
Of you in lines of music, fire-sewn rigs,
Or else a scene where you collect the night
Within your lap, its shadows rolled like wigs.
We’re blinded by a vision strong as light;
For this we’re dubbed as animals or pigs.
