The Mild Frustrations of a Twenty-First Century Woman
First it was theology
Religion, persecution, witch-burnings
Sectarianism and war
Then came science
A renaissance in
Physics, chemistry
Geography, biology
And scientific law
Now it's technology
Modified genetically
Complicated maths
Biotechnology, nuclear energy
Moving on, evolving
More quickly than before
How I hate fanaticism
Evangelically perspiring
From the mouths of priests
How I loathe dissection, vivisection
Having injections
Taking medicine
Having smear tests
And visiting the dentist
Sometimes I battle with computers
Like some would fight a holy war
But how come,
If people can go to the moon,
And the planet could self-destruct with one push of a button,
They can't invent something that picks clothes up off the floor
Wipes down the surfaces
After doing the washing up
Does the shopping
Cooks the dinner
And makes tea?
