I haven't really got your number

You would leave me alone

Not that you're that bad
Just boring
That's the real reason why I've been ignoring
All the messages you left
And, I would have let
The answerphone get it
This time if I had known
It was you who was calling

I'd have been
Heckling your voice
On the answer-machine
But I just can't be that mean
To the live monotonous drone
As you moan on and on
About your job
Or your dog

It's not that you are horrible
But your company's intolerable
Your voice is grating
Your laugh, irritating

But what is most regrettable
Is you're so easily forgettable
I never can remember
To change my telephone number
