a minute darker

the year swings,

branch hung

and loose limbed

becoming something;

abandoning something

tonight, the horizon rears

and scalps the dark

and the awkward

electric blue of migraines

will not die tonight

summer static

prevents edges from fading

then whites out midnight

sleep will be bastardised tonight;

dreams obsolete

in the wake

of this tempest of bright

a fulcrum surrenders

as each day

gratefully

become a minute shorter;
