Lost

Nisa breathed deeply in a failed attempt to control the fear that was overtaking her. Dripping water echoed through the cave in a soft chorus. Nisa appreciated the small amount of company provided by the dripping song. The cave reached out to her in unpredictable intervals at angles unfamiliar to Nisa. She struggled against the invisible substance that held her firmly against the cave wall. Her efforts were fruitless. After some time, there was no energy left to scream, no motivation to struggle. An occasional whisper to her father was all she could muster as minutes transformed into hours. Doubts of rescue forced themselves into her mind only to quickly transform into panic and then into another tired, unheard scream. Her calls continued to form into her father's name because if she were rescued, she knew that her father's strong arms would pull her from this mess.
"Baba...please...please find me" Nisa whispered this last request to the silence as she submitted to the call of unconsciousness.
