POEM: Tell Me.

Tell me what I have to do?
How can I illuminate your gaze?
Raise myself into your view.
Find my space, escape the maze.
To attract your restless glance,
to notice me, see that I exist.
To enhance my smallest chance
to shine, and catch your interest.
So desperate for your smile,
to feel at last your weighty stare.
While still feeling all the while,
when I speak you're without care.
You pass by so close and yet,
a distant mask mirrors my despair.
Each mile measured by regret,
as you look through me unaware.
In your vast crowd I am lost,
you clearly have no comprehension,
Of heartbreak, the crushing cost,
of jostling for your attention.
Sadly true, you have no clue,
as my fragile heart drowns in the mire.
What one carefree smile from you can do,
celebration to inspire.
Need fulfilled, that which I crave,
with just that one subtle wink, hello.
An eloquent word, and a wave of hand,
as blithely on you go.
To win a warm glance from you,
a treasured prize just for my face.
There is nothing I would not do,
to feel at last I've found my place.
How can I break through the gloom?
Invade your senses, hold fast your glance?
Radiate with the warmth of you.
For I to, at last... you entrance?
