Where is the spring of my youth
Colourful lady birds spreading their wings
Taking first flight
Tadpoles sprouting legs
Soon to become tiny frogs
Purple violets half hidden
Nestling in winter browned leaves
Dragon flies darting then hovering
In flights humans envy
Billowing, fluffy clouds
Parading by in comical shapes
Anxious mother birds
Watching their fledglings leave the nest
Sparkling rain making puddles
That just dare me to splash in them
Daydreaming in the grass
Pulling off daisy petals
He loves me, loves me not
Where have these things gone?
It is now that I am realising
It is me that is changing
Not all of these have gone
Only, perhaps, my youth.
