Our green blankets, those which kept
us snug, are pulled back with a
crack, discarded
long threads which we had sewn
in and around our multiples
are pulled free; unravelled
blackened outer edges
like bruised pinkie toes
could be snapped in half
or boiled, barbequed, roasted in foil
some cut us loose
and we fall to the plate
or they'll sink teeth in
outer edges too hot for
little hands to hold
mini-pitch forks inserted
butter drips from us
to chin to plate
the husk of us left like empty
honeycomb cells.
