Happy Birthday to Me

Today, I am 89 years old.
I wake from my slumber
and it occurs to me that
89 is a prime number.

But unlike that number
I am not in my prime
although I've been told 
being old is not a crime.

I recall that in my youth
I used to rock and roll
but now my movement
is limited to a slow stroll.

This grandpa did indeed
rock around the clock.
If he did that nowadays
it would cause a shock.

I do not regret the fact
that I am not fit to jive
but am simply delighted
to be mentally alive.
