My First Poem on ABCtales

Twenty years ago, on Mon, 13 Sep 2004, I posted my first poem on this site. It seems to fit this week's Inspiration Point which is:” what I see”. I  would like, if I may, to reproduce it verbatim for new readers to scrutinize or to act as a refresher for others
NB. Not autobiographical.

Etchings

From the top
Of the hill
I look down
And what
Do I see?
A wonderful,
Memorable
Town.
There's the mill
And the square
With the school;
The church where,
In a moment
Of piety,
I uttered
A prayer.
The pool;
The station;
The park where,
Against
Parents'
Orders,
We played
After dark.
But all this
I don't see
With my eyes,
Now I'm blind.
Those images
Are etched
In my mind.

So simple, with no expectation of the twist at the end. A lovely idea, and reminded also of someone trying to describe a seen to a friend who is blind. I liked it very much. And just the right amount of discreet rhymes to aid the flow. Rhiannon

It was one of my early efforts Rhiannon and I was pleased with it. So much that I remembered it after twenty years and thought of reposting it. It is an amazing coincidence that it suits the I.P.
