Rapunzel, An Update

I knew that Rapunzel
was a damsel in distress
who, being in seclusion,
suffered great stress.
She’d been detained
by an evil chatelaine
and in consequence
had chronic migraine.
The reason for this
I wished to address
so I asked the maid
to examine her tress.
It had been subjected
to some powerful pull
by a lovelorn prince
as strong as a bull
whose sole intention
was unprecedented:
he wanted to tell her
she was his intended.
But while his support
she was glad to enlist
she revealed she was
a committed feminist.
He was a sweet boy
but she made it clear
it was her objective
to pursue a career.
So the young prince
was left in no doubt
that his hopes were nil
and nuptials were out.
