When I read this joke
I laughed out loud.
It is about Millicent,
a sprightly retiree
not at all reticent,
aged ninety-three,
who took the plunge
and ran stark naked
in the residents lounge
of a sheltered home.
Two men looked aghast
as she flew past.
Did you see, asked Bert,
how she was dressed?
yes, his friend replied,
but by the look of it,
it needs to be pressed.

aye, skin is a funny thing. velvet at brith, patchy mongrel and a little whist when we sigh and say goodbye.

Appreciating the humour of link between wrinkles and creases (and a clever piece of rhyming at the end), I felt a bit of poignancy, having had the experience at my mother-in-law's home recently of a dear gentleman who couldn't stop regularly and suddenly starting to take his clothes off – all, if not caught in time. So difficult for the staff to try to keep an eye, and finding a suitable 'lock' for the trousers didn't seem easy. I think maybe it was the one thing he could still do himself, but I think maybe the phase has passed, as the mind's workings continue to fade, maybe it was just a passing stage of confusion for him. I am not disparaging old people, Rhiannon. As an octogenarian wrinkly myself, I was amused by the of tale and comforted to some extent that despite the obvious drawbacks of advanced age a senior citizen can frolic and have fun.
