More scams

"Heres one scam: only it seems to fit with memory. The Austrailian sheep station scam: or is it? I had an Uncle out there with one, and it was supposedly left to me... I've never seen that will either. That's been a torment weapon too in the last week."
"I recall," said Leggings tentatively, "That there might be another - there is talk that you shouldn't work with children?" She looked a bit embarrissed. "Did you do something?"
"No," said Kitty sharply, "And I want that one stopped. There was some disturbance outside the college last week, and the Police came down to deal with it."
"Some of them are at it again around town. Ugly evil Ickies."
"Not kidding! Always the same shops too!"
"Perhaps, £and will put them out of business."
"Perhaps, only I like their stuff, that would be a shame."
"You had a follower today," said Leggings, "For a while anyway."
"Yeah," agreed Kitty, "I know - and someone spreading rumours... I'm beginning to think it's why I can't find a job in town. Also talk of people pretending to be my parents! At my age too! Trying to do a certain surgeon out of his life savings and complaining that he ruined my hands for ever. He didn't."
"Where did you hear that one?"
"In a place where I was putting in an application form. I can't blame them for not wanting to read it."

"I think I met this lot before," said Kitty quietly, "Years ago, before I was lost."
"What happened?"
"They took me in, and tried to make me say I was one of their children. Their children were horrible, everytime you did anything, no matter how small they told on you."
"Nazi kids!"
"Mum she's got her finger up her nose! She's sat down again. She's..." said Kitty, "I detested them. Then they brought other people into it, and tried again. I wasn't theirs. Then I was asked to write a report about them. They were called the most evil family in Great Britain."
"Did you ever write it?"
"No, it was them that were the cruelest of the lot, eventually it all went to court, and I was moved after the cruelty case was proved. I felt that involved enough writing about them."
"And this is the first time for years?"
"Yes, it's as if they lost most of their supporters - and now they are much more visable. They've been trying to get me to accept one of their horrible men friend's as a partner. As if I'm daft enough to join the horrid family."
.........................................................................................
"Have they said much else?"
"They bring children around now, and try to train them in their evil ways. Mostly black magic. Sucking out brains. Lately techno magic, pointing their mobile phones... at me... I get so sick of it all. I cursed the lot of them the other night for it all. They want me to defend myself. So that they can say I started it all, and am wicked and cruel. Mostly it's about bullying, the sort you find in the classroom. They can't have their duchy back, if they can't do it, or force me to say they are lovely people."
"How awful."
"I can't do anything without proof." Kitty said tiredly, "I wish I had some."
"I wish I met the Piggy People," said Leggings thoughtfully, "I wish we had proof too, I'd go down to the Police with you
"I've heard talk of people sharing farms etc out - because the area was left empty... that seems a local sore point..."
"Odd," Leggings agreed, "Surely the police know about that one?"
..............................................................................
"On the good side of things - I was invited to do a talk at the library and read some of my work." Leggings said calmly.
"Did it go well?"
"Better than I expected...." Leggings got up and smoothed down her leggings, "Would love to do more. It was a begginning."
