Wicked Spikes childs story

The hedgehog wandered out of the undergrowth at the edge of the forest, yawned, scratched, and looked around. He saw the long green swathe of the lawn, neatly striped stretching away to the building, the dog bounding towards him, tongue dripping.
It was too much! He rolled into a tight ball, spines exposed. The dog snuffled around him. Eventually it sat down, and watched the ball puzzled. It didn't smell right. From the interior of the ball, the hedgehog could only hear muffled noises: and suddenly he was picked up, high in the air.
"Cool!" cried out a child's voice, "Wicked spikes!"
"Put it down," yelled another voice, "It'll spike you!"
"Won't!" said the first voice, "I think it's hurt, or hungry."
"Early riser," said an older voice, "Just out of hibernation. You can feed it on the dog's dinner."
Dog walked away in disgust. The hogthing was alright of course, except it wasn't worth his dinner....
