At the Open Mic
I felt like Leonard Cohen,
An old guy at the feast
An old and ancient rhymer,
A preacher and a priest.
These are the new bohemians
Like we were long ago
Declaiming in this basement club
Like those who came before
I feel fired and inspired by them
The flame is passing on,
From Beat to Punk to nowadays,
The struggle it goes on!

I love open mic nights,
I love open mic nights, precisely because of the eclectic mix of performers. Not a performer myself, but have enjoyed supporting friends and family of all ages, at music and spoken word nights. It's wonderful that you feel inspired by a new generation, as I'm sure they feel inspired by you.
