In the Year of the Virus

We stayed indoors and watched box sets
We all stayed in with family pets
Twenty twenty, we won’t forget
The year of the Virus.
We wore our masks out to the shops
We stayed inside to avoid the cops
NHS pulled out all the stops
In the year of the Virus.
We watched the weather from indoors
Washed the walls and mopped the floors
We never cared ‘bout football scores
In the year of the Virus.
We never went to gigs or pubs,
Out to eat or to nightclubs,
Our homes became our social hubs,
In the year of the Virus.
On social media, mobile phones,
Skype and Zoom, we were never alone
We never needed to phone home
In the year of the Virus.
We ordered all our meals online,
We sometimes even drank some wine
Mostly we were doing fine
In the year of the Virus
The world became a different place
To live in for the Human Race
Now people have a friendly face
In the year of the Virus.

Great poem!
I really like the rhymes, it takes a lot of work to find words that fit well to the context also.
Keep it up!
