Questioning eyes looking at me
Frail shoulders demanding an answer
Insisting what do you see?
The clothing has long seen better days
In the cold searching for a warm place
The eyes now hardened in the child's face
Saying keep your distance
I want no pity embrace
The bare feet washed by the rain
The proudness still strong hidden is the pain
Yet he's still demanding what do you see?
Now they're screaming you don't know me
If you're coming with your cameras and charity cases
Me on the front plastered
While they call shame....shame
They won't even remember my name
The angered eyes telling me I don't want instant fame
Just take your gifts if this is your game
Frail shoulders now standing tall
Eyes still questioning what do you see?
I answered a person in need
I don't need you to bleed
Taking the package he finally smiled
He sustained injuries which wasn't mild
Driving away in the rear mirror
He showed me the child
