I will never forget that image that I saw, when I had to go to the hospital during the first lockdown, to do with work. I can’t remember if I had got lost, inside the hospital or I was meant to be on the ward. I remember I was on the stroke ward, and the receptionist was talking to me, I think I had to collect something, and the ward door was open, it was very quiet in there, and I saw a man very still on his back in bed, covered up; all of them on that ward, had had strokes. I have never forgotten that scene. I think of that man, and wondered if he made it, did he get well and leave the hospital? I hope so.
There are different types of strokes, mild, medium, severe, and multiple. I know some people have died from a stroke.
I had had a strange text from a friend, in response to a video I had sent her, but her replies to me didn’t make sense. I was puzzled, as it wasn’t like her.
Then a few days after this her husband told us that, “She has had a stroke.” We were all stunned and shocked!
She is such a good friend to me; I look up to her and have a lot of respect for her. She is awesome. In fact, she is lots of things to lots of people. She is a great wife, a fantastic mother, thoughtful, caring, very hardworking, selfless, honest, funny, wise, generous, I could go on.
She started her own business, a charity to help a special group of people, which she has won an award for. I am SO proud of her.
She does not live near me anymore, so I am unable to see her, but I can’t imagine her so ill.
I know that some people recover from a stroke and I hope she is one of them.
The shock of it all, has not sunk in!
