it was at your feet that it dropped the Frisbee.

I don't know if you started to suffer from heatstroke
or were tipsy
after your third glass of Martini and lemonade
but you tried to catch wasps
as though they were bubbles
being blown by the toddlers

and you touched the charcoal
of the barbecue with your fingertip
when I was concentrating on dishing out
pasta salad.
