I heard you play
the piece you've practiced for weeks
you never could hit the right notes.
Your quavers were too slow
crotchets too long
you manoevured your fingers
along the octaves too clumsily.
You'd start the piece a thousand times
a day.
I thought you'd never get it right.
You'd slam the lid down
and leave the house
sometimes i felt so guilty.
As you lift the lid
and adjust the stook
you play with grace
and tranquility
your nimble fingers
dance
you play without reading
the sheet music
the notes flow
like snowflakes
and the melody
will stay with me
forever
