Enchantment By Greengate
By Paul McCann
We played there under the enchantment
by Greengate where some Sunday’s were spent as children dressed in hand made clothes stitched up in time
and with innocence that made us shine , we could see hidden things that were ours and we stayed and played there for hours .
We became lions in the tall grass .
we caught pick pockets as they went past , they were always around everyday ,
where fairies and children often play at Greengate where we found the still pools and ate buttercup cakes and toadstools .
Enchanted we could fly here and there on our magic horses in the air .
By Greengate on Sunday afternoons dancing between our
enchanted rooms and we played eye spy on the way home from Greengate where our enchantment roamed .

Childhood memories to cherish
Childhood memories to cherish. Your poem was great to read and right up my street.
Glad I'm not the only one who loved to make believe. Thank you for sharing.
Jenny.
