The Invisible Dad
By Paul McCann
Gathering some common-sense
from the love we shared in our past tense ,’
it’s a complicated thing to do
but how can I commence living without you .
Maybe if you have some time to spare ,
we could catch up and recover
the magic of all those times we once had
and forget about this invisible Dad .
In the past tense way back then
before divorce took my children ,
I still remember how it used to be,
time cannot erased my memory
but If you choose to forget me ,
maybe you’ll live to regret
the day you turned away
and made me the invisible Dad ,
that one never had ,
the invisible Dad .
.
Kindness will remind you someday
and all your blindness will go away ,
when you see things in the present tense
and understand that it all makes perfect sense .
Will you ever come back to me ,
from the places I cannot see ,
maybe one day you will find a way to remember me
the invisible Dad .
In the past tense way back then
before divorce took my children ,
I still remember how it used to be,
time cannot erased my memory
but If you choose to forget me ,
maybe you’ll live to regret
the day you turned away
and made me the invisible Dad ,
that one never had , the invisible Dad .
