On The Lonely Streets Of Bundanoon

I walk the streets of Bundanoon
and see the wild flowers bloom .
The day is almost over
and I’m staring at the moon :
Thinking of the dawn ahead ,
I wish it would begin ,
sleeping rough is cold
and no one will ask me in .
Ghost like shadows cross the street
there before my eyes .
If you step inside my doorway
ou will hear me cry ,
wrapped up in some newspapers
I found inside a bin ,
winters almost over now
and spring will soon begin
On the lonely streets of Bundanoon
people pass like shadows on the moon
I stepped inside a sacred place
and I said a prayer for you ,
cemeteries and silence
have replaced the love we knew ,
I placed a rose at your grave
and I lay there for a while ,
I walk the lonely streets again
with thr memory of your smile .
On the lonely streets of Bundanoon
people pass like shadows on the moon .
The golden sands are far away
from the doorway where I sleep
but I can hear the waves crash down
where waters run so deep .
Horizons are hazy lines
stretching out to me ,
a future without you
is where I have to be .
On the lonely streets of Bundanoon
people pass like shadows on the moon
