Mother Of The Gentle -
by Paul McCann
.
Mother of the gentle
hear my plea as I fall down on my knee ,
I am not guilty , stand by me ,
when they set out to punish me ,
give me prudence in my thoughts ,
so innocence will not be lost
and let truth be alive in me
Mother of the gentle
there is no other that I can turn to
help me please Gentle Mother
for there’s only you
and no other could do the things that you do .
Mother of the gentle
my head is bowed ,
how loud and angry are the proud ,
like the wind within a cloud
where rain can never be allowed
to gently fall upon the ground
where humble tongues make the sound
that softly echo through the maddening crowd ,
Mother of the gentle
show me how
and help me find a way somehow ,
to change the hearts and minds of those
and open eyes that have been closed ,
to see the beauty everywhere
and turn away from their anger
like the rain in the wind that blows .
Mother of the gentle
there is no other that I can turn to
help me please Gentle Mother
for there’s only you
and no other could do the things that you do .
