The Sun In My Heart

Once there was you and I was happy
just for a while the sun shone for me .
Then it was gone and I carried on living within the darkness again .

Dying to hear the kids call my name ,
they say crying tears eases the pain .
but too many tears broke me in two and the sun in my heart set on you .

The odds of things turning round were slim,
there was no light everything was dim .
I had to change how I was feeling so I could find new hope and healing .

The little faces that used to be , looking at me affectionately
Were gone from view and so far from me and I felt cold alone and empty ,

There is no end to the suffering when your heart is a burnt offering .
Was it something that I had learn .’
How I wish that the sun would return .
I’ve waited so long .,tried to be strong , since the sun in my heart set on me .
