Up There On A Cloud
By Paul McCann
I went down in the Glen where nobody goes
and walked in the dappled light that glows .
I sat by a rusty river that gently flowed on by.
For a minute or two I closed my eye
and I fell fast asleep .
I dreamt that I had been lifted above,
high up into the sky .
Its so sad when the dreams I had
are on a cloud drifting by.
Sometimes I wish that I could fly high above
the angry crowd and rest upon a purple cloud and
just dream on as the whole world below
goes drifting slowly by .
Up there on a cloud with a friend of mine
we sang a song and we drank sweet wine
then the stars came out and began to shine so bright .
We had a laugh and we talked for a while
We found the joy in each others smile ,
that lasted long through the glow of the night .
The world below seemed so far away
and the night turned into the another day,
then the friend I knew left ,
he drifted away .
Suddenly there and then
I found that I was back in the Glen
and the dream I had abruptly ended that day.

This sounds like just my kind
This sounds like just my kind of dream, and what a perfect place to drift away.
Another great poem.
