A Soldiers Tale.

Its so hard  for ex servicemen to re-integrate into society. You might have spent years following orderrs, having your life direted and organised for you lthough you may be a gret soldier it doesn't prepare you for an independent life, your brothers and sisters youve served with are gone and you have to re learn how to survive in a society that can appear confusing and unsupportive. Of course there is always the experiences of combat zones to darken or break your ability to survive and find direction. Of course the majority manage and there is help available but you have to know how to mnage all that. Thank you for your comments.

Thank you as ever Paul. There are so many factors, Most really are not prepared for that massive shift between two very different ways of life. A minority fall through the gaps, but all struggle in one way or another. You don't have to have seen combat, just losing the comaradery and support given in service can be so hard. And really you go in many ways from a society that does everything for you, as long as you're soldierly. Getting good grouping with ten rounds at 200 meters doesn't really do much for you "outside". There actually is quite good support here, but accessing it is a different kettle of fish.

I was lucky, because of my involvement in dodgy things, we had access to someone who helped us find jobs that we felt suited us. There are British buisnessmen who maybe belong to the same club give opportunities to certain men and women. For Example I went to sea chosen from a list of jobs, it seemed a good fit for me and I thouroughly enjoyed it, because Lord Edmund Vesty (the owner of a large shipping company) had signed up to help certain people. I know for a fact Jackie Stewart the Formula one boss employed two guys from SIS who were reaching burnout in his race team.

But this sort of thing wasn't available to everyone. BTW I was never in the SIS thats just an example that I know of.

Yes you can with a look see people everywhere, but theyre unseen by society blinded by the unpleasant circumstances they see. It may be, I hope, your man in the tent mmanaged to get help. I volunteered at a veterens support centre and the guys before me, over the years housed many many vets. Helped with form filling and making claims. Many vets lets not forget are not equipped for that massive shift from service to normal society. Although there is now quite a lot of help many just don't know how to access it. How do you get help on the internet if your belongings are a tent and sleeping bag? So much seems insurmountable.
