Sun-kissed skin
A blessing from my ancestors
Who knew that simple geography could make a woman so beautiful
My African sisters keep their heads high
Full of dignity and grace.
They live their lives
Unaware of my existence
But I am aware of theirs.
Oh, if only I could be an African woman
Strong and lovely
I would be content.
I will embrace my heritage
Be strong like my sisters
Have pride and keep my head up
And show the world my African beauty.
