CEMETERY MUSIC

at night, out in the cemetery
occupants will sing
at first a softly purring voice
then others start to ring
.
not every person does it
just the ones who've conquered death
the ones in indecision
listen closely, holding breath
.
these recitals start at nightfall
for the sun is not their friend
so when the morning beckons
it is time for them to end
.
it's a song about beginnings
that's what dying's all about
not many understand this
they believe it inside-out
.
all these melodies are joyful
for it is not time to grieve
the mingling of the voices there
makes all who hear believe
.
yes, everyone at some point
will embrace this lovely choir
you may choose to join the gala
or just listen with desire
.
what some think is an ending
they soon find is just the start
that's when they find the music
that is hiding in their heart
